Novell has released a Novell Data Synchronizer Mobility Pack application for GroupWise 8 that does bi-directional sync of email, calendar, and address books to many ActiveSync devices (i.e. iPhone, iPad, Android phones, etc). Your GroupWise administrator would run this on a Novell SLES 11 64-bit server then all GroupWise 8 users would point their ActiveSync client to this.

See http://www.novell.com/promo/data_synchronizer.html for details.

[...] Synching GWise Calendar with Driod You can set up a rule in GWise to forward your appointments to your gmail address and they post to your Google Calendar. It doesn't work both ways, however. You also get a reminder, which is a calendar icon, on your notifier. I recently became aware of this link for the i-phone and it works, however, it is not working in reverse - appointments made on my phone don't go back to GWise and it doesn't sync. It's a start anyway: Synchronizing Novell GroupWise Calendar with iPhone [...]

This would work well but my employer does not allow rule generated messages to go outside the organization. I got around this using another application Companion Link for Google. It has it's challenges with duplicated contacts and I've lost my internal link on Groupwise to events I scheduled or others scheduled with me.

I have been doing some work arounds and found out that the problem for me was to make sure the mail/cal. booking was marked as read, in the filter setup.
So I made a filter saing that all mails fra xxxx@xxxxxx.com containing GWDelegate should not go to the inbox but directly to the trash, but i made sure to put a tjekmark in the box "Mark as read" - this solved the problem for me.

For me the same as for DB, Cedric, Synergist, wwengreen and David:

I can find the item in my gmail-trash, but it doesn't show in my calendar.
So the GW-rule is fine, it's been sent to gmail, but gmail doesn't put it in the calendar....
When I click to accept the item from the trash folder, it does show in calendar.
Then, when i changed my google-calendar's settings to automatically add items to my calendar, they showed.
But.... I don't want to automatically accept items....
Any ideas?

The emails are getting through but not appearing in the calendar. I got a bit lost looking on the Novell site. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for this post, Kevin! This is a great work-around until Novell actually lets us sync "normally", and I agree - it's definitely better than double-entering all of my appointments!
